Custom Learning SolutionsUnfortunately, traditional learning products are most often created using a product focus, usually by “experts” who “know” what is best for the consumer. Likewise, learning systems are often sold to educators or companies through intermediaries, such as HR departments, who “believe” the experts. In contrast, by using a consumer-centric process, which involves direct consultation and partnership with all stakeholders before and during creation of new products, PanGlobal attempts to create learning solutions that are the most efficient and effective for end users. When properly supported, technically skilled educators are ideal educational partners for corporations. These educators contribute to the knowledge base in their local market, facilitate education delivery, and provide educational credentials needed by the workforce. Training in the Power Engineering profession has always had a significant distance delivery component. Technical and vocational students in certificate and two-year diploma or associate degree programs are the largest users of this distance education. In the U.S. overall, about 76% of the colleges that offer Career and Technical Education courses provide them through distance learning. This statistic was a critical consideration in PanGlobal's decision to offer a Learning Management System (LMS) to all educators, in support of their program delivery. An effective learning solution model for small colleges is that being used by Centralia College in Centralia, Washington. They partnered with industry stakeholders, PanGlobal and NIULPE (National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers) to provide a learning model that utilized both face-to-face and online learning resources, while also combining a standard, nationally recognized certification (and learning materials) with customized learning ware, designed for specific workplaces. They were able to select from a matrix of high quality, text-based learning materials, media elements and assessments and to supplement these with resources from the instructors and learners. The latter were able to directly interact with materials that related to their individual workplaces. As a result, this model has created a group of students that has achieved exceptional success on the nationally mandated certification examinations. Educator online learning environments are swiftly, but effectively, created in a collaborative process. Content is available either as textbooks or electronic e-books to which digital rights management has been applied. Learning Materials are most effective when the needs of learners and educators are equally considered during their development. Courseware should be available in optional formats, which are linked to learning styles and to delivery methods that maximize its usability. Different delivery methods should be supportive of each other and should not require significant expense to establish. PanGlobal ensures that educators who provide online delivery of its courseware have the same (or equivalent) educational tools within PanGlobal's online Learning Management System as are available in the program's face-to-face delivery. PanGlobal’s LMS provides an efficient way to deliver content-based knowledge in a learner centric environment, with media enhancement and a large body of externally validated learning assessments. The system is easy to use, provides effective security and can be managed either internally or by an external educator. |
